This wonderful book about love, friendship, hope and staying afloat in life's tumultuous waves. A balloon begins a wonderful friendship. I loved everything about Emmie Blue, she's an extremely relatable character who very often puts others above herself and is a hopeless romantic with very little luck when it comes to love. Emmie is introduced as being in love with her best friend Lucas, who has some important news for her. She thought it would finally be requited love after many years of friendship so it is understandable when her reaction to him asking her to be his best wo(man) is shock and some nausea. Her love remains unrequited and her hopes of a relationship with Lucas are crushed. Emmie eventually finds that the person who's been there, the one she overlooked because of Lucas has always gone out of his way for her. Lucas and Emmie met when they both needed each other.
